8th Grade: 'Personified Portraits'
These eighth grade artists were inspired by the works of multiple artists for this self-explorative lesson involving discussions of our culture and what objects we value (i.e. Frida Kahlo, Henri Magritte, Claude Cahun, Lorna Simpson, etc.). Pulling from these artists, students also worked on a heavily interdisciplinary lesson. They created self-portraits based on the language arts term 'personification'. Below is the abridged version of the lesson plan and selected works of student art.
